Members from the Lincolnshire South Federation are getting ready for their planned trip to Folkestone / Bruges and Canterbury. Visiting Canterbury Cathedral and its lovely old buildings, tasting the chocolate delights of European Bruges and the local sights of Folkestone.
Sibsey WI helped out by making several large cakes to be sold as refreshments at the weekend Craft Fair held at Sibsey Village Hall.
One of our members has drawn a lovely picture of the our famous Sibsey Trader windmill to grace our new programme.
Our annual meeting gave members the chance to reflect on our past year remember some of the exciting things we got up to!
A good variety of speakers covering a wide range of subjects including the drainage system of the Fens and its support for the farming communities, the local golf course's commitment to protecting its wildlife, a village members selflessness as he travelled to the Phillipines as part of a surgical team to help children with a cleft palate, a BBC radio presenter, a local Magistrate, a members trek to China, Nepal and Tibet and a Jubilee Tea Party.
Organised trips have taken members to Cadbury World, Buckingham Palace, the National Arboretum and several Theatre trips. As well as quizzes, fashion shows and literary lunches.
Most importantly Sibsey WI offers warm friendship, support and fun for women of all ages. We are not all 'Jam and Jerusalem' though we do enjoy our food and craft activities. If you enjoy variety, an opportunity to socialise and like going to different places, come and join us. You'll get a very warm welcome.
We meet the 2nd Wednesday of every month in Sibsey Village Hall at 7.15pm.
Today the sun has shone and the wind blew warmer. I've seen my first swallow so Summer is on the way.
Our website has only been up and running a few days and already making contact with new friends around the country. It really is a big family. http://www.sibseywi.co.uk
